Yesterday was a pretty spectacular night. After having dinner with a new, very special friend in celebration of my birthday, we stood outside the restaurant with clouds invisible above us, and a full moon that was present yet hiding timidly behind those same clouds. Microscopic drops of cool rain seemed to kiss my shoulders, while I discovered what these “Arizonians” mean when they say that rain is welcome here.
Home. That is how I felt for the first time since I moved here less than a month ago. To be truly recognized by another, understood, is a rare and amazing experience. I have met many wonderful people since I moved here, but last night, on my birthday of all days, I felt completely connected to another human being.
Such a rare and beautiful thing it is to meet someone and instantly feel as though you can bare your soul, and be seen, really seen, for who you are. No hiding behind a cloak of anonymity, no pretense, just laughter and conversation about every and any thing.
Yesterday, I joked about old age, but today I feel forever 21. Life is good.

It’s a fact that people want to be appreciated. A person that shows their appreciation of others certainly stands out. This post is an excellent reminder of that : )
Thanks Joe! I find that when I appreciate not only others, but my surroundings and my blessings, that I am in a much better place. It is so easy to look at all that is wrong in our lives, but when we focus on the good, we will find ourselves much happier!
